Farallones
“Farallones” brings the majestic silhouette of Cali’s western horizon into the quiet sanctuary of the Regional Public Library. Inspired by the iconic mountain range that guards the city, the mural uses the artist’s distinct language of dots and lines to reconstruct the daily spectacle of the sunset. A dense accumulation of verdant greens builds the rugged topography of the mountains while a scattered field of blues maps the open sky above. At the convergence of these two worlds sits a radiant yellow sun composed of concentrated geometry that captures the precise moment light touches the peaks before evening falls.
This geometric landscape serves as a meditation on the inseparable bond between the urban environment and the natural world that embraces it. The dot represents the distinct elements of the ecosystem while the line traces the energy that flows between the earth and the heavens. By abstracting the familiar view of the Farallones, the artwork invites viewers to perceive the hidden geometry of their surroundings. It stands as a vibrant reminder that even within an interior space we remain linked to the cycles of the planet and that the setting sun is a shared connection that unites everyone under the same sky.
