Hemoglobin

HEMOGLOBIN, 2024⠀ Iron Sculpture (edition of 8, installation of 3 pieces) ⠀ 39.3” X 39.3” X 39.3” (each piece) ⠀ 15th Havana Biennial @BienaldeLaHabana⠀ ⠀ The red iron cube, with its perforated faces, symbolizes the continuous respiration and gas exchange, similar to the function of hemoglobin in the body, which transports oxygen and carbon dioxide. This sculpture reflects the duality of absorption and release, representing growth and renewal in our lives, as well as the process of acquiring and letting go of knowledge and experiences. Recognizing this interconnection drives us to live more consciously, valuing balance and harmony in our actions and relationships with the world.⠀ ⠀ Hemoglobin is a protein with a complex and structured shape. Although its molecular structure is not cubic, the cube represents the order, regularity, and modularity of biological molecules. The cubes, with their straight lines and balanced form, evoke stability and strength, which is what hemoglobin represents as an essential function in the blood. ⠀ ⠀ The installation composed of three cubes for the Havana Biennial symbolizes continuity or a cycle, evoking the nature of blood flow and the constant role of hemoglobin in life. It emphasizes the omnipresence of hemoglobin, highlighting its presence in all bodies and its repetitive and vital role in every heartbeat and breath.⠀ ⠀ Location: Malecón and Hotel Museo Del Prado Royalton⠀ This installation is part of Detrás del Muro, project of the 15th Havana Biennial
